Buy This Now #870: ReQall

by Jordan on July 17, 2009

Easily one of the coolest things I have used in some time. ReQall is an application for your iPhone or Blackberry that takes over your life (in a good way). It is like having a smart assistant right in your pocket with no pesky sexual harassment issues. First check this out for an overview of what’s possible. It’s hard to describe every cool thing that ReQall does basically this is how it works:

  1. open up the application, click a big plus sign and start talking about anything on your mind. For instance, i say, “Buy Milk and some eggs.” instantly ReQall analyzes what I just said, filters it into the todo list, highlights the word “buy” and perfectly types what i dictated.
  2. it doesn’t stop there, then it can “jog your memory” with tons of fun tricks. I said, “Remind me to call John at 6:00″ so 15minutes before 6pm I get a vibrate and a notification saying, “Call John at 6:00.” This thing is scary good.
  3. it also syncs up with the ReQall servers which is nice if you lose your phone.

In short, it is a brilliant To Do List, Note pad, Reminder, and much much more. Free version is good but the pro version (which only costs $25/yr is absolutely worth it).

*Note: have yet to use the Blackberry version but i imagine it’s still pretty good. iPhone users should snatch this application up ASAP.

Definitely worth reading the quick start guide here: http://www.reqall.com/about/reqall_iphone_qs

ya, i've seen those. Personally I have the Relax the Back ZeroG chair. It's really comfortable, not too big, looks sleek. No complaints.

I do read engadget every day along with about 30 other tech blogs. Can't promise to IM you/email you personally, but if I see something I really like, I'll be sure to post it to CoolSlice. =)

my precious 19's go the way of the dodo bird. or i stick them in a closet. never know when you need an external monitor to setup a home server, give to a friend, test a video card, etc.

I do a few things, started a few companies, in my last year of law school at the moment. Keep myself busy. =)

So if you go two 30's on the desk top what will you do with your 19's? And what do you do exactly?

    Hey there again!

Ya, once you go 30" there is no going back. I'm actually thinking about getting a 46" LCD 1080p tv mounted to my wall in front of me (the bottom of the tv would be at the top of my head) and then have two 30" displays on the desk. Id use the 30"'s for day to day and the big boy for gaming, media, etc. Wow…I have problems.

Never been a big fan of Logitech speakers (love their mice and keyboards though!). Also, I'd pass on that 2300. Sub is weak and those speakers lack clarity and punch.

Here's what I recommend and don't get mad at me because I know it's expensive: http://www.axiomaudio.com/audiobytecomputerspeakers.html

If you want a 2.1 system (not just 2.0–meaning no sub) than that axiom is the way to go. Best part: they have a 30 day in home trial. Can't beat that.

If you want just an awesome (and I mean awesome) 2.0 setup for next to nothing, I wholeheartedly recommend the Creative T40 Seried II (http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory;=28&product;=18021)

    boom.

    Hi Jordan,

Just read your post on your monitors. I have to agree. I just bought a 28 inch Hanns-G. It's my first big monitor and I could never go back. Even now I am thinking of ditching this baby in favor of a 30 inch. I like to trade stocks and am transitioning into it full time. I do it from home and spend a fair amount of time looking at charts. Wow, what a difference this makes. My next buy will be awesome speakers. Looking at Logitech Z-2300 but I will look at the ones you got too.

Stephen, thanks for stopping by. =)

It is true, i love gadgets, really anything and everything to do with technology.

Not sure the desk but you can check out my monitor setup here…

    http://www.coolslice.com/2007/08/when-30-is-just-not-big-enough.html

it's a dell 3008 sandwiched between two 19" Hannspree flipped into portrait mode. I love the setup since it gives me a big center space for developing, browsing, pictures, video, etc and then i can always have a small word document, iTunes, IM, etc open on the 19"'s.

I'm using the awesome Audioengine A5 speakers which i think are the best bang for the buck when it comes to a 2.0 desk speakers.

just got the Logitech Performance MX Anywhere mouse (review to follow tomorrow but in short: awesome) and the logitech Wave keyboard (awesome as well).

Feel free to ask me any more questions, glad to help out a fellow technie.

    Jordan,

Stumbled onto your blog somehow while looking at ultra office chairs. Started reading your blog. Had to comment. I want to say I appreciate you taking the time to highlight your office chair search.

Will look into your chair when my time comes.

I see you are a gadget junkie. Nothing wrong with that. It takes one to recognize one.

May I inquire what kind of office set up you have at home? The deak? The monitor? Etc.

    Thnx

    Stephen
