Thomas, thanks for your question. This chair will 100% increase your productivity! I can’t tell you how many hours I am at my desk. I am customize my chair to the exact task I am working on. I am reading a document: lock the chair back forward and tilt forward. I am reading a book: lean chair back and lock seat forward. Basic typing: 90 degree chair back locked. You should watch the videos I posted on how to customize the chair to get an idea of the all the options. Trust me, you will love this chair! -Jordan

I will be entering medical school this coming summer and am interested in creating a comfortable learning atmosphere. My learning will consists of looking down towards my desk instead of towards a computer screen. Will this chair support a healthy posture for looking down? Does the comfort and support increase your productivity?

Hey Jordan, it's 2am and I just stumbled across your review on the 2nd page of my google search. About a year ago, I learned I had carpal tunnel in both wrists and degenerative arthritis in my neck. At 33, I was shocked but obviously knew something bad was going on from the abnormal discomfort I was feeling. And of course I realized this was all a product of my work/computer heavy grind. I had surgery on my left and started physical therapy and went nuts trying to completely ergo my setup. The 3M computer tray, track mouse and foot wrest have proved invaluable with my wrist/forearm pain. Can't believe I was so naive to think I could ignore proper ergonomics. Ugh, getting old.

Anyway, back then, I also went in search for the perfect chair. Steelcase, Humanscale, Herman Miller, etc. I actually walked into a local RTB store and sat in a few Lifeforms. Obviously amazing, but I was blown away by the 2K+ price and didn't necessarily like the high-back executive look. I work in an open tech environment so of course I'm use to seeing the cool looking plastic/mesh ergo task chairs. So I end up ordering a Herman Miller Embody for $1300 - definitely at the time more than I wanted to spend, but hey, this is my aging body and livelihood we're talking about. Well, crap. Don't get me wrong, this is no knock on the Embody. It's a very solid chair with amazing support for the mid/lower back area and very adjustable and of course... aesthetically gorgeous (at least at the time for me). But recently I've found myself cheating on her, occasionally popping in RTB to sit in a Lifeform. I just can't get over how much more comfortable it feels. Besides the obvious cushy memory foam, it feels so supportive all the way up my back, even into my neck/cervical area. What was I thinking buying a chair without a place to relax my tired neck? (big gigantic head doesn't help) Again, so naive, so dumb. And although the armrests on the Embody are adjustable, they don't position as comfortably as the Lifeforms - not to mention how much more cushy they are. I guess I've matured over the last year, cuz now I'm attracted to something completely different - and regretting I didn't drop an extra 1K for the chair I should have purchased in the first place. The Embody is still very nice and will have a welcome spot in my home office but I can no longer ignore what my body is screaming for.

And so I thank you for your post - and your previous one on your older chair. - and everyone's comments. Even though I was still going to pull the trigger, I feel so much better about walking into RTB tomorrow and correcting my mistake. They're having a 10% off sale this weekend (I'm sure this happens often) so I might even go crazy and get the genuine leather and not just the simulated. I was told 2-3 weeks shipping time so I'll be sure to check in once I get it broken in. So again, thanks for the write-up and congrats on the new chair!

Really no "actual" reason that I got the new chair except that I wanted one for the office. I gave the old chair to my dad. :)

Hey Jordan - Nice looking chair.

Was the old chair not working anymore or did you just want a new one.

Still have the old one available? Are you interested in selling it?

I like all of those things but tougher to accomplish than say. How do we force people to buy local when stores like Amazon are saving them 25%? That's 25% they get to put in their pocket.

Second. Stop overspending at home.( Do you need a T.V. in every room?)
Third. Mom and Pop are hurting.(Buy local)
